In Canada, one must know how to stand on skates. In Australia, one must know how to stand on your head.
Canada has polar bears. Australia has drop bears.

Well put.
I think we have way more poisonous shit than Canadia but we don't have bears (thank goodness). Drop Bears are an invention to scare tourists (away). Koalas are not bears (and if we don't do something about their disappearing habitat, they won't be (at all!)).
Beer…. correct!

You’re right about the poisonous bit, but Canada has more large fauna that will stomp on you, ram you, gore you, and rend you.
Yes. Agree. A large kangaroo or a cassowary can kick you to death or disembowel you though.
We have fucking brown snakes you will literally chase you and bite you if you accidentally go in their territory.
Also drop bears are everywhere and if you've ever had to pick up a koala you'd know their claws are dangerous as shit. Chlamydia makes them blind and they tend to attack when they feel threatened due to that blindness. Luckily we have koala hospitals.

How is Australia better than Canada? That’s easy.
This is a Quokka: Don’t worry, they don’t bite. In fact, they’re so friendly because they don’t know what a predator is that they’ll come up to you. Yes, they do smile. No, this is not photoshopped. They just want to give you a hug. Have a Google or scroll through Instagram. Lots of people take selfies with these cheeky critters.
Sorry, you can’t take them home.

Australia is largely a hot place. From actual sandy deserts to tropical rainforests but with great slabs of temperate real estate where everyone lives. There are also very cold places where people don’t live (well not many) but where everyone goes for skiing holidays (well not quite everyone, I don’t like the cold)
Canada has two seasons, winter and road repair. There is little in the way of sandy deserts, not a lot of tropical rainforest. Temperate climate for only half the year at best.
Both have huge areas of wilderness but Canada has better mountains. Australia has a better and more inviting coastline all year round.
But best of all, Australia does not have a seething mass of political corruption and chaos and one giant meth lab down stairs.
It can be difficult to choose between migrating to Canada and Australia. Both of these places have its own set of pros and cons. Let's compare:
Cost of Study: Studying in Canada can cost you around CAD 20,00 to CAD 30,000 annually. While pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Australia can cost you AUD 20,000 to AUD 37,000.
Job opportunities: Canada is known to have diverse job opportunities for immigrants. IT specialists and Engineers are particularly in demand. Living in Australia can give you the access for both New Zealand and Australia, giving a combined advantage.
Healthcare: We all know Canada provide free of cost and World Class health facilities. Australia gives 'Medicare’ health insurance but it not entirely free of cost.
Citizenship: Citizenship is possible once you have resided in Canada for three years (1,460 days) under a PR visa. However, you must take a citizenship exam and file your tax reports. If you're seeking for a location to call home, Canada is a good option.
After you have physically resided in Australia as a temporary or permanent resident, you can seek for citizenship. Three of the previous four years must be included in the total. To be qualified, you may also need to show that you have worked in the past in the country.
Taxation: Canada has a higher average effective tax rate of 28 percent. Employees in Canada earn an average take-home wage of around $35,500 per year. Taxes, in most cases, make a significant difference. What you get is your annual pay after taxes.
Australia, on the other hand, has a lower average effective tax rate of 23.6 percent. The country's progressive tax rate ensures that higher income earners pay more tax. The tax-free threshold is $18,200, after which the tax kicks in. There is no tax-free threshold for foreign residents in Australia.
The above comparison can give you basic understanding while making an informed choice for choosing most suitable country for yourself. These are just a few of the aspects to consider when comparing Australia and Canada in terms of immigration. Both countries offer numerous chances for immigrants to advance, as well as a welcoming and multicultural atmosphere. Both Canada and Australia are reported to have low crime rates, making them ideal places for immigrants to reside.

I like them both. So do many other Australians who have had the opportunity to visit Canada or live there. Leaving aside the question of the weather, they are very similar to each other.
When I lived in Canada I was constantly stumbling over other Australians and everyone commented on how much they loved it and how at home they felt. The only Australian dissenter I ever met only disliked it because of the winter, not because of the country itself. I much prefer the cold to the heat so that was never an issue for me.
Deep inside of me Australia was always ‘home’ and I did come back eventually, but at the same time I left a huge chunk of my heart in Canada. I still miss it in many ways and I’ll never regret a second of the time I spent there.
I grew up and have lived most of my life in Canada and I spent a couple years working in Perth, Australia and visited Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane for meetings.
Australia is very hot. Perth on the west coast is very dry, same climate as San Diego. Sydney and Brisbane on the east coast are hot and very humid. In Perth, it often reached as high as 40 degrees Celsius in the summer in January. In the winter, it might get down to 10 degrees and once it got down to a whopping 3 deg. C. It would rain every other day but the rain was warm. I only had to turn the heater in my car on once in all that time. No snow to shovel. Ever.
Australian housing prices or rent are ridiculously high in Perth. A tiny two bedroom starter home with no yard might be easily $500,000. The house I rented, four bedrooms and a nice yard with a pool was worth about $1.5 million and I was 35 km from Perth in a far-flung suburb. Everything is air-conditioned, homes, cars and offices. I went from one air conditioned space to another. In Canada, most homes and many offices do not have air conditioning, at least in Alberta.
Food prices were about 20% higher, same with fast food. Where a Big Mac meal in Canada is about $6. Big Mac Meal in Australia is over $10 (or about $9.90CDN). They call McDonald’s “Macca’s” Down Under and Burger King is called Hungry Jack’s and they serve their Whopper-type burger with sliced beetroot and a fried egg.

Overall, living costs ran from 20% more to 50% more.
The living is more laid back. Most of our staff at Halliburton would duck out about 3 pm on a Friday and head to a bar to visit. It’s a cultural thing. No one shops after work, they all head to the beach.
If I could afford it, I’d love to live there again. I loved Perth.
Australia has higher costs for post-secondary education, when gasoline was about $1.20/L in Alberta, petrol was $1.63/L in Western Australia.
Personality wise, I found Australians to be much like Canadians, very laid-back, very friendly.
Food wise, they don’t like very much salt or sugar in their food. The bread is very bland as a result. The beef is called silverside and it has a rainbowy color to it, like the scales on a rainbow trout. It tastes a little funny to an Albertan used to grass or grain-fed beef. The cows must east some weird stuff in the outback. Meat pies seem to be the national dish.
They will have vendors walking around at a cricket or footy match selling meat pies like we might have a hot dog seller at a football or hockey game. The Chinese food doesn’t resemble North American Chinese food, it is based more on real Chinese, Indonesian Chinese cuisine, or Thai food. They can’t seem to make a good pizza to save their life. The best pizza I had down there was Domino’s and it was as bad as those crappy $5 pizzas-to-go at Little Caesars or store-bought cardboard crust pizza. The national dessert seems to be Pavlova which is a bunch of layers of baked meringue with fruit on top and in between. I found it a bit tasteless and sometimes even gross. They need to be introduced to cheesecake or Skor trifle, or even pie. My roommate had no idea what a banana cream pie was. North Americans drive a lot of big vehicles, pickups and SUVs or mini-vans. Australians drive lots of little subcompacts and their pickups have mostly flatdecks or they have what looks like a Ford Ranchero and all of them are referred to as “utes”. I only saw a half-dozen full size trucks and they stood out like giants on the road. No one is allowed to add a lift kit. If you are caught with one, they impound your vehicle and crush it.
Joseph Aspler
Best possible answer. Canada doesn’t have wildlife large and small dedicated to killing you.
I mean sure, you might get eaten by a polar bear or trampled by a moose … but at least you will hear it coming!

That huntsman is just chilling on the wall waiting to kill a pesky fly. No fuss, no muss, just a normal Australian thing.

But they are pretty harmless and hardly ever bite. They just look big and scarry. They can give you a freight when they jump though. Huntsman spiders like this cause road accidents; They famously like to hide behind sun visors in cars, some poor soul decides they want to drop it down to reduce glare and end up with an enormous spider in their lap which then becomes the focus of attention rather than the road or surrounding traffic. Bingo Bango.

I… DON’T…. CARE about being bitten. I simply do not want to live on the same side of the planet where monsters like this can intrude on my peace of mind.
