The United States did have their own space station called, Skylab. It disintegrated in the earth's atmosphere on july 11, 1979. The Skylab program cost 2.2 billion dollars.
Tian Gong is expecting the first African astronauts soon tho, been in action since 2016. The Chinese have planned how to do everything and now it's as sleek as the Rosinante from the Expanse
So far difference ...china is more advance ...although the size is about 1/3 of iss ..look at the ability to present the efficiency is about
3× 0.7= 2.1 times in term of same size ...
If we see the interior picture so nice , tidy as compared to iss so mess.....
From the above conclusions , it appears that china has surpassed iss interm of cost production , 35% cheaper and efficiency 200% and showing more sophistication ...
The planners for the ISS had planned for it to look sleek and efficient as well, but it became apparent that exposed cables were just easier to maintain.

and the iss has older electronics although upgraded, of course it would be bulkier. However, the "Mechanical" look, I prefer it.
it's literally in space. Reliability and fixability is more important than "aesthetics".
@youtubeanything7291 That’s what I’m saying. I don’t give a fuck about how it looks. If you are in space you are in a very hostile environment to life and I would prefer practicality over luxury
Said every kid who won't clean his room ever
@youtubeanything7291 the reason why there less cables in the Chinese station is because they don’t need the cables. They aren’t hiding the cables for it to look more aesthetically pleasing, everything is wireless and digital. They are on WIFI and the ISS is on dial up.
because stuff on earth needs to be cover to keep crap out. In space if anything comes your way the panel won't stop you.

Tia gong uses as many wireless options as it can, however. So even in a few years, when humans do what humans do, and the wires aren’t hidden any more, it won’t be nearly as messy.
The way wires, cables and other equipment are exposed in the open, there is a greater risk of breakage or damage if care is not taken by mistake.
Easier to maintain plus easier to damage it as well

At that time it was the best technology we had. Now the things are changed so China built with latest tech
I smell propaganda
Bare cables are indeed easy to maintain, but when there are many cables, they can only become a wool ball, and the maintenance time will increase exponentially.
Or it's just bad design from the ground up bc it is design is more than decade older
@MarkMiller304 eww wireless in space
if have solor storm your system will fully offline or broken?
@mahachonk.7401 if you can’t shield against that you shouldn’t be in space
Each section of the ISS was built by a different country ended having to rewire a lot of things after they were all docked.
A mess of cables? That's the first time I saw a fire break out and burned the whole laboratory in half hour.
We also have to consider when these two stations were built, and how each county funds such items... China is a one party state, they do what's necessary for China's advancement and aspired dominance....
America, on the other hand, the core of the ISS, a place where women struggle whether or not our perceived democracy is more important than abortion... Then she stumbles and ultimately picks abortion.... Like that makes any sense.... Chosing something that depends on the other.... smfh...
A get nothing done government, where voters prioritize what makes them feel good over the country's advancement.... COUNTRIES COMPETING AGAINST OTHER COUNTRIES CANNOT SURVIVE VOTING ON EMOTIONS....voting has to change, start with restricting voting to 30, allowing people to get a real look at life and not be swayed by emotions and feelings, we need drastic change in politics overall to compete with China...

@MihailSarkisof
The ISS was mainly the result of cooperation of two confronting nations one of those was poor and another - greedy. So ISS is an utter miracle because it exists at least.

Unless you have a large station (over 300 meters) there is no need for sleek design.
Reason being any small station bellow that range would not have untrained personal and or normal civilians and or transportation people. They will be purposely made for science or industrial use.
That’s why India is not only a most developed country but a super power of the world and because all cables exposed all over the street make India people life easier.
When you have to pin point where a broken fiber optic line, you don’t have to look through all the panels when it’s just there.
US: Haha your space station is tiny!
China: But it looks nicer!
US: Ours is more sophisticated than yours too.
China: Yes I see messy cables.
US: It's easier to maintain.
China: It's clearly skill and determination related issues.
US: >____< !!

Almost every engineering or IT room looks sleek and futuristic until after a few months. Then it becomes an altar for worshipping wires.

The Chinese station is on wireless connection. They didn’t tuck the wire away, they don’t need it. It’s 2024, technology has moved on.
@MarkMiller304 wired is always more reliable than wires less.
@gund89123 yes. You are correct. But why people ditch their land line phone and switch to cellphone?
@MarkMiller304 Internet doesnt magically replace most of those wires. Internet is comparitively slow, and electronics sre just small batches of wires connected by larger wires. Willing to bet WIFI hasnt magically replaced all the electronics inside. Plus, arieal communication isn't efficient. You can remove many or soms, but saying it has no wires wpuld be very inaccurate.
it's been years and Chinese space station still look sleek and futuristic because it use wireless connections
hell nah that sht is going down the Pacific ocean

@randombully3798
The unappealing mechanical parts are there because the ISS is old.
It was designed in the 90's .

@Random_. similar to china's Space station internally.
Though there is not much will in western countries to build another space station as ISS will be retired in 2031.
So i guess it won't be before 2040 when we will see another ISS size space station .
@randombully3798 well by then technology will be much more advanced and the new space station even better

Yes.. Form and function.. ISS has only function and no form.. While the Chinese Tian Gong is both form and function.. You cannot compare the 2 .. ISS is like a Honeywagon (vacuum truck) and the Tian Gong is a Ferrari or Lamborghini.. Both perform a function they are intended to lololololololol
@GamingBaked are we trying to compare the greatest in their time periods or the most efficient in general here? The most efficient land transportation in the 1500s was a horse. A Toyota is nowhere near the best in this gen but I rather use that.

It’s because it’s out dated tech. If they had digital wireless technology up there you think they would have all those wires around?

@Mark Miller304
I'm guessing you've never seen the inside of a data center. LOL!
1)Hardlines are more reliable than wireless.
2) Some of those are power cables, not data cables.
3) There are hundreds of experiments being performed. All those wireless connections so close together will cause signal interference between the equipment.
4) Due to higher radiation levels, wireless transmitters and receivers are more vulnerable and need extra shielding.
There is no need to unplug and plug wires everyday.
Whatever that needs to be accessed is easy to access. It's called having a functional design. China uses new technology and design.
It's the same as having cupboards or closets instead of leaving your clothes and plates everywhere. Sure, it is easier to leave your clothes lying everywhere in a mess. But after it becomes hard to manage and find clothes, and having things packed away neatly in orderly fashion is much better and easier to sort out. You think having 1000 wires all hanging everywhere in random directions is easier to manage than having it designed to not need to do that in the first place?
It also allows much more usable space for the inhabitants.
@ex0duzz Being neat and orderly is a must. But, covering everything up with "pretty panels" is a waste of time. It's like the difference between working under the hood of a 60s muscle car vs. working under the hood of a modern car.

@avigdonable Tell me you know nothing about Mir and Tiangong without telling me.
If Tiangong is a "bigger size Mir", then so is ISS. The only thing they have in common is that they are all space stations.
When the basic design, life support system, electronics, orbit parameters, size and experiments are all different, you can't say it's the same in any way that makes sense.
