Check the video from YouTuber telescope. Obviously you can set it to some "comfort" mode which gives about 400 HP. Even on the track, he was driving in the "endurance" mode which only gives 900 HP. The 1500 is only supposed to be used seriously, like on a track.

And since power is approximately constant (very roughly), 1500 hp would overcome the contact patches friction at low speeds (spin tires) but not at high speeds. So I would guess this has a good 0-60mph time, but amazing higher end acceleration (say 100-150mph)

It's downvoted because it's superficial and outdated. If you ever visited Chinese factories and did on-site investigations of their industries in recent years, it's easy to realize the low cost of Chinese products mainly comes from high automation ratio, fully arranged supply chain and massive competition, rather than cheap labor.
It's not that cheap anymore. That's why low-end products manufacturers mostly moved their factories to Vietnam, and high-end ones invested a lot in AI+manufacturing. Workers losing jobs became a major social problem there.
In terms of gov subsidies, they did that 20 years ago to initiate supply chain, and 10 years ago to prioritize EV in public transportation contracts, and 2 years till now to facilitate EV buyers on vehicle registration. The overall money is about the same as federal gov subsidies to Intel and Boeing. Everyone does the same, but they do in a smarter and cleaner way.

Well the JV companies (SAIC-GM, FAW-VW, GAC-Toyota etc) have access to the same supply chain, same currency, and never mind state subsidies, they are literally 51% state OWNED, yet they were still charging high prices for cars until literally 2023 when Tesla started a price war and all the non state owned Chinese automakers joined in, forcing the JV carmakers to join in as well.
Which means even the Chinese consumers were getting overcharged for DECADES (with half of those profits going right overseas to foreign shareholders) until the domestic EV makers finally produced REAL competition just a few years ago.

Any car made in China is much more expensive elsewhere. When you see a Chinese EV in Europe, theyre not sold with china prices, theyre sold with Europa prices and frankly so far rather unsuccessful. And before you go 'because of tariffs', they already didnt sell well before the tariffs. Only the MG4 did decent.

I mean compare a Model S to a Taycan. Is Porsche just 'overcharging'? Or are there merits to the higher price? One thing I always notice about 'affordable' high performance cars is that they often have shitty brakes, thats particularly true for Tesla. Theres a less performant cooling system and obviously a Taycan has been optimized to drive decent in corners too and not just straights.
When I see 1500hp EV for that price I immediately think of shit brakes, not so great cooling and a not awfully well refined driving experience outside the obvious very high hp numbers. Sure itll do well in a drag race because apparently thats the only thing that matters these days. 1500hp to me screams marketing more so than any point being behind it. Its way too much power for virtually anything that isnt a drag race. Even Porsche is struggling to find any good reason to go beyond 1000hp with the new Taycan GT. Sure they could give it 1200hp so it would beat the Model S Plaid more confidently on a drag race but Porsche doesnt care that much about drag races.
And the whole topic of 'overcharging', ofc a premium brand doesnt offer great value, thats never been the case, these cars/items are status symbols. You dont seem to understand the point of luxury/premium cars/items and you very obviously arent the target audience for it.

As an engineer working on Active Safety systems, you hace to change your mindset om the priorities of these systems. The systems are tuned conservatively due to critical safety cases. Issues with sensor performance in all conditions. Compute limitations. And most importantly, issues with people's ability to intervene when something does go wrong. They often don't pay attention when the use these systems. The vehicles performance is rarely if ever factored in tuning those systems because of those constraints.

Im just wondering what you do with 1500hp. With supercars with an ICE you dont need to full throttle it to experience those cars. An ICE has infinitely more character than an electric motor. You can enjoy a Bugatti W16 engine without going anywhere near peak power.
Rivian has a high hp EV supercar and it hasnt sold all that well, they expected to sell more. Ofc that thing had a supercar price but genuinely, 1500hp just screams marketing more so than common sense. At that price i cant imagine it coming with brakes or battery cooling that could last multiple Nordschleife laps without overheating. Its probably still selling decent for a while but let me say this, Tesla nowadays barely sells any Model S and X despite 1000hp for a low price.

Question was around production. End of 2024 they sold > 139K vehicles and had locked 250K orders. Which means they have 100K+ backlog for their vehicles. This one will have special production line and I dont know how long it will take to hit 10K production.
Demand will not be the issue for sure.

The China EV market is so far ahead of us here. I watched a few live streams on xiaohongshu / rednote showing their EV capabilities and I was really amazed. Everything can be controlled from your phone / voice including simple stuff like locking the door, opening roof etc.

Such outrage for a mere currency issue. It's doesn't take more than 5sec to convert the currency; and even if you ignore that it's not Chinese companies fault that EU countries have less competition and high tariffs. So it's pretty obvious the prices will be cheaper in China.
