The cost of living in China is much lower, and it's clear that China has a good standard of living by PPP standards.
Many have already mentioned the lower prices in local markets, including the fact that online shopping is in many cases more affordable and convenient than in supermarkets such as the one shown in the video, and that there are no additional taxes on food, household goods, etc., and that the price on the label is the final sale price.
There are also under-appreciated areas such as the low cost of electricity, and the cost of running water may not be much lower than in the West but it's definitely not high either.
So just because the per capita income of Chinese people is not as high as in the West does not mean that the standard of living is lower, nor does a high per capita income in the West mean that the standard of living in the West is higher.
So if we use per capita income to measure the living standard and quality of life of people in a country or region, it is not accurate.
I think China has an advantage over the West in terms of quality of life, for example, prices are stable and have not risen, food, medicines, household goods and most other things you can think of can be purchased through the internet and delivered to your home quickly. Energy costs are lower, you don't have to pay taxes on most things, you don't have to tip the waiters, public transportation is more developed and smarter, and it's also very affordable.
