India and China are in different league and comparisons are meaning less. China is competing with US , not with India. Deep seek is an eye opener about the competitive edge that China is likely to gain , in coming years. What may be possible is , India may hit $13000 Per capita( which is almost impossible, but still to agree with you to make you feel as winner), China’s Per Capita will hover around $50000, ( which is almost a reality). So the % gap still remains, but moved to different positions, absolutely.

Even China had similar population and basic civic culture is almost same, but in India none of the governments are doing anything to greatly focus on public skills and education. More education will create better job opportunities. Problem of Indians is that we don’t value jobs equally, we are like why an educated person will clean the sewer and streets but in countries like China and Japan it’s civic duty. While in America several volunteers take up this duty daily and court orders minor offenders to civic duties without pressing charges.
