This is the attitude that I wish all my Indian brothers and sisters would have. As two nations that have existed for thousands of years and have coexisted and have share much, and those differences that our countries have should be worked out for a more prosperous India and China. Between India and China we have 40% of the total population of the world. The two nations have a tremendous work force, resourceful population, great engineers, and that is why the USA along with the Europeans put a wedge between India and China, they fear that both countries would unite and help each other rise economically and leave in the dust the Western world, namely the USA. India and China, China and India could definitely lead the world, but the USA will not allow it.
@user-ht7jt2gr5j

Biggest joke is even if the americans buy directly from China even after paying 150+% tariff it will be still way cheaper than what their own company charges them
@deeprollingriver52
I'm so glad I'm over parading my "luxury" around to show off. I sold all of mine and kept only 5 reasonably cost bags. Nobody noticed what I was carrying and nobody cared. Neither do I.

@classicpianoman1486
@CogitoTesting We are the customer/ buyers. You need/want our buisness. We don't need your products. So yes, I'm sure. Your doing our work for us, by showing exactly why U.S. and Europeon workers deserve to be paid fair wages. This is the whole point of the tarrifs. You are shooting yourselves in the foot with this strategy.
@darkismkayla
Let's be honest. The luxury market isn't that expensive if you produce it at cost and take off the logo. The luxury logo is about 80% of the actual price. But the fact is that you're buying the image, showing off your taste, and making them think you have more money than you actually do, which is a very good thing.
@EnochIsComing
I whole heartedly support this, we should not be spending our lives working for these...

@MsSavoy
I worked for Dior and Stella Mccartney. This is known in the luxury world. China makes the bags because they have the manufacturers and skill. They ship them to luxury brands in France or Italy and they repackage them and put their logos on those bags. For example Louis Vuitton repackages their hand made leather bags made in China and sell them for thousands of dollars in their boutiques. Lululemon does the same thing. It's basically drop shipping!!
@greggm7917
When I worked at a Shanghai MSP called SSBG Ltd ( still exists), we had a French client where they took in clothing items without any labels and added various famous brands. Otherwise, you could not tell two shirts or ties apart. China is doing a good thing by blowing the lid off of "luxury".
@indocanadianadventure
We Indians dont even enter these display shops (only good for window shopping)- instead go for valuable assets. But folks who earned the money via looting, wars or printing - does not matter.
@SHANKS183
People are not buying bags, they're buying egos. $38K is so worth it to satisfy their egos. Buying the same thing for less is just different.
@tundakyat457
Its true!! We believe the Chinese. We in the US have heard that all expensive brands are made in China & other cheap labor countries in the same factory as the cheap items since the 80s & 90s and just the logos are being placed on the item.
@abhinavpiyush3619
It's not only about cheap labour but also about skills you can't compete with them
@Mclovin96X
Same in dress market. Most expensive fashion items made in dharavi slum and sell in Europe for thousands of dollars

There's a saying that, "A fool and his money are soon parted", that's exactly what has been happening here. Thanks to China for exposing this racket, you can't fool all the people all the time.
@PoBx100
Truly wealthy people don’t obsess over flashy brands. They’re not throwing money at overpriced stuff that serves no real purpose. When someone feels the need to constantly show off designer bags, it’s not about class. It’s about trying hard to look like they belong in a world they’re not actually part of. Real wealth is quiet. You don’t stay rich by making other people richer, especially by spending and promoting brands by flashing their brands on the street, that offer no real value.
@Habib_Osman
Exactly. It's the working poor that judge each other on branded clothes. The rich judge each other based on the work they do, their houses, the universities they and their kids attended and their cars + perhaps on high brow activities too depending on the type of wealthy person. Think of things such as literature knowledge, classical instrument proficiency, high end table manners etc.
@AnilKumar-dk8by
People pay for the logo. Without the logo, quality has no meaning for the rich. Moreover if the same product minus the logo floods the market at a cheap price, they cease to be a high-end product.
@joer5571
So you find another site that sells the logo, the clasp, the handle, whatever has the brand name on it, and install it yourself- easily done, there’s the "workaround"... Most "rich" people aren’t bright enough to figure out the difference, anyway...
@Habib_Osman
That's not true buddy. if you compare an expensive shoe to a cheap shoe for example the differences are massive. I own Meindl boots for example and their quality is something completely outside of normal standards.
@sexyhoney1836
Who really cares about luxury products if most people are not even able to afford such items with years of their salaries- but the sad fact is, it is almost the same with many ordinary items, too. Means any products cheaply produced in Asia cost you in Europe or the USA ten times more, at least.
But this is not only an issue of made in China, it is also valid for many items made in India. The T-Shirt manufactured and sold in India for 300-600 Rs to wholesale and sold in retail for maybe 990 Rs or so brings in Europe under a brand name easily 40-50 Euros or even more which is 3800-4800 Rupees. And in some roadside shops in India you might get the same T-Shirt as B-ware (some little mistakes) or as fake/duplicate for 250 Rupees or less.
And to be clear: this seemingly crazy end price in Europe, if you compare it to the manufacturer's selling rate, includes VAT, and if you calculate that from 50 Euros remain 42 as net price. This price contains 50% margin for the retailer (which does not mean profit also but includes also his costs for transport and sale, personel etc.), means he purchases it for 28 Euros. This price contains the margin of the wholeseller (means also his costs for godown and sales and what not plus his profits) wo paid 18 Euro including tariffs and - maybe - transport.
Means what you can purchase in India in a shop for 1000 Rs or on Amazon for 850 Rs is sold by the manufacturer in India for 500 Rupees maximum, and it costs you behind the border in Europe already 1700 Rs and if you want to get it in a shop in Germany or Austria it might cost you there almost 5000 Rupees. And this is not because somebody is cheating but simply how trade works - there are so many steps between the manufacturer in India and the consumer in Europe and everybody on each step adds his costs and profits and at the end even the government wants to have some out of it, so the consumer pays in the shops 10 times more as if he would pay if he had purchased the exactly same item at the manufacturer's door step.
@7415_Gamer
Those who buy expensive stuffs mostly buy status. They want exclusivity and class. When you have money society wants to see you look unique; your house, your cars, etc. This is what luxury manufacturers have capitalized on.
@kanyeeast-i8f
Trump charging 150% tariff on Chinese goods where as American companies charging 10000% tariff from its consumers just the word tariff is replaced with luxury
@basusudip
Same story for Apple, Google Smart watch, phone, laptops or TVs, washing machines everything. All these US brands are making 80-90% profit. Drop made in China and make in the USA.
@VictorNwosu-d9b4c
The real value of luxury is the inability of others to afford it… The branding illusion won’t just go down the drain with this Chinese‘expose’ or else wealth loses its pettiness
@asmitpikle8660
Its not the product that gets you sales, its the marketing and branding. This move of China will simply give opportunities to other countries.
Thank you China and good luck to India.
@tejaspatel973
Wow that’s a strong move by China and Chinese manufacturers. People will start ditching the middle man (Brand name) company and directly by the same quality product directly from manufacturer ???? Which will lead to total collapse of Brand name companies.
@LLSicilia
wont happen. the brands will use origin of manufacture laws to protect their industry and the asians wont buy knock offs as it's frowned upon
@GurpreetSingh-fh8gj
The price tag is for the Logo not for material.Everybody knows about the cost to produce of actual material and labour.Without the Logo how rich people are going to show they have paid big bucks for it.
@Bijnori_chora
The most expensive thing I ever bought in my life after my house (on mortgage of course) is my car which I bought for 30,000 .. and there are people who buy bag for 38,000??? What for? To show off not to carry things in it of course
@cool-aquarian
I’ve been buying cheap unbranded knock off clothes my whole life.?? Premium brands don’t make sense for clothes.
Good that more people(esp american) get enlightened and empowered by this knowledge.
@StephenHardy-j2l
You are 1000 percent correct If these brands went the way of all flesh 99% of people wouldn't know the difference . You are also right that it is an aspiration towards nothing . Nothing of real substance and certainly nothing of any real value If you have got 38000 to waste on a bag and actually do it then you really need to look hard in the mirror
On a lighter note,I hope everything goes well with your house purchase...Have a good life You obviously have the right priorities and you deserve to succeed in anything that you do
@itsace119
Let’s be honest — most people who buy these bags aren’t buying the product itself, but rather the brand. Without the brand name, it’s pretty much worthless. If they wanted a cheap knock-off, they could get one for way less than $1,400 at a dollar store or something
Don't spend a penny in the US market now because of the 245% duly. I wold buy a
1200roundtripflighttoShanghaiandgoshoppingthere.Becausea100 China price product may become $900 or higher in the US market, well, plus tax.
@nimageofmine
Those who are paying 38k for a purse won't bother with additional tarrifs because they already have enough money. So, this might not play out well for China. The actual impact of tarrifs will be to the middle class and low income groups.
@saniaasan
The irony is that Chinese tourists line up outside the large Louis Vuitton store in Paris, spending thousands of euros on "just the logo"! I've seen it myself. That's rich China - not the same China as the one working hard hours and low wages at leather factories.
@SMR218
That’s what i don’t underrstand, if in reality the exact same bag is produced in China why are Asians all over Chanel, Hermes and LV boutiques? I doubt these tik tok is totally true. But to es y their own. It’s nobody’s business how people spend their money. It’s their choice. You can laugh and call them idiots if that makes you feel good about yourself.

Those who buy expensive stuffs mostly buy status. They want exclusivity and class. When you have money society wants to see you look unique; your house, your cars, etc. This is what luxury manufacturers have capitalized on.
Trump charging 150% tariff on Chinese goods where as American companies charging 10000% tariff from its consumers just the word tariff is replaced with luxury
Same story for Apple, Google Smart watch, phone, laptops or TVs, washing machines everything. All these US brands are making 80-90% profit. Drop made in China and make in the USA.
The real value of luxury is the inability of others to afford it… The branding illusion won’t just go down the drain with this Chinese‘expose’ or else wealth loses its pettiness
Something is cooking, I can't just tell but something is cooking... diverting the world attention. I tell you something is cooking..
Its not the product that gets you sales, its the marketing and branding. This move of China will simply give opportunities to other countries.
Thank you China and good luck to India.
Wow that’s a strong move by China and Chinese manufacturers. People will start ditching the middle man (Brand name) company and directly by the same quality product directly from manufacturer ???? Which will lead to total collapse of Brand name companies.
wont happen. the brands will use origin of manufacture laws to protect their industry and the asians wont buy knock offs as it's frowned upon
The price tag is for the Logo not for material.Everybody knows about the cost to produce of actual material and labour.Without the Logo how rich people are going to show they have paid big bucks for it.
The most expensive thing I ever bought in my life after my house (on mortgage of course) is my car which I bought for 30,000 .. and there are people who buy bag for 38,000??? What for? To show off not to carry things in it of course

I’ve been buying cheap unbranded knock off clothes my whole life.?? Premium brands don’t make sense for clothes.
Good that more people(esp american) get enlightened and empowered by this knowledge.
On a lighter note,I hope everything goes well with your house purchase...Have a good life You obviously have the right priorities and you deserve to succeed in anything that you do
Let’s be honest — most people who buy these bags aren’t buying the product itself, but rather the brand. Without the brand name, it’s pretty much worthless. If they wanted a cheap knock-off, they could get one for way less than $1,400 at a dollar store or something
1200roundtripflighttoShanghaiandgoshoppingthere.Becausea100 China price product may become $900 or higher in the US market, well, plus tax.
Those who are paying 38k for a purse won't bother with additional tarrifs because they already have enough money. So, this might not play out well for China. The actual impact of tarrifs will be to the middle class and low income groups.
The irony is that Chinese tourists line up outside the large Louis Vuitton store in Paris, spending thousands of euros on "just the logo"! I've seen it myself. That's rich China - not the same China as the one working hard hours and low wages at leather factories.
